About

I was born and raised on the East Coast of Canada and that was home until 1995 when I immigrated to Australia with my husband and three daughters.

Once settled in Melbourne, I joined an evening art class and over the next 12 years diligently built on the foundation of my university fine art major (Acadia University, Nova Scotia). Participation in several other classes and workshops over the years have added to my art knowledge and experience.

I have been an active member of the Ringwood Art Society for over 10 years.

Artist’s Statement

My work is representational, realistically depicting the subject and exploring layers of story and meaning with particular attention given to composition, colour and form.

I work primarily with oil paint and coloured pencil, two mediums which lend themselves to a rich build up of colour, blending and the rendering of fine detail, all of which combine to bring the subject to life.

My subjects vary but themes of beauty, tenderness, and hope are woven throughout my work. This stems from my belief that what is good and beautiful in life is worthy of celebrating in art and that such art is a valuable and essential gift to the world.

“Why shouldn't art be pretty?

There are enough unpleasant things in the world.”

-Pierre-Auguste Renoir
